I believe that good teaching consists of excellent student-teacher rapport while immersing students in a subject with exemplary curriculum. Easier said than done. Most of us, even with great teacher preparation programs, learn these skills by trial and error. For me, Modeling Instruction gave me the framework for really making curricular ideas work. The student-centered nature of Modeling was instrumental in building rapport as well. More recently, I've implemented standards-based grading as a way to both improve learning results and to improve my rapport with students. I've learned a lot along the way but I still have lots to learn. I hope that the thoughts and resources I share on these pages will help you in developing your teaching craft as well.
